[Video] Pakistan Super League Opening Ceremony, as it happened

Pakistan Super League Opening Ceremony held at Dubai Intentional Sports Stadium on 04 Feb 2016. A lot of celebrities, Cricket Stars and politicians joined the opening ceremony. With this opening ceremony, HBL PSL has officially began.

Quetta Gladiators batsman Kevin Pietersen said

“We are here to entertain but most importantly we are here to share our experience. We have only three to four years left but we have youngsters with us who have a lot of time to learn and play.”


The PSL Opening Ceremony was started with Pakistan’s National Anthem followed by talks of PCB chairman Shehryar Khan, PCB President Najam Sethi. In his Speech Najam Sethi promised fans to bring a couple of matches next year to Pakistan while the 3rd session of Pakistan Super League is to be hosted by and in Pakistan completely, he told the fans.

Just after these speeches, All the 5 teams of Pakistan Super League were introduced in the ground with the song of these teams. Pakistan’s singing sensation Ali Zafar and British Singer Seal Paul also performed later which entertained the viewers. While Sean Paul was performing on stage it was quite surprise for fans that Chris Gayle came onto stage and started dancing and enjoying the performance.

A very good show of lighting works and firefighting works was observed in this Opening ceremony of Pakistan super League.

The Opening ceremony was immediately followed by Islamabad United vs. Quetta Gladiators match. This was a low scoring yet crunch match in which Quetta Gladiators was able to record their first victory in Pakistan super League.
