PSL Playoff 3 Result : Kamran Akmal’s Century powers Peshawar Zalmi to reach in PSL 2017 Final

Kamran Akmal’s excellent century of just 64 balls powered Peshawar Zalmi to set a target of 182 runs for Karachi Kings. The later struggled in chasing the target and the 3rd playoff of PSL 2017 resulted in getting Karachi Kings knocked out of the tournament. 

Karachi Kings won the toss who decided to field first. That proved a wrong decision for them. Peshawar Zalmi started their innings with blistering strikes from Kamran Akmal.

His 97 runs opening partnership with David Malan helped Peshawar Zalmi to set a huge score for Karachi Kings. Karachi Kings bowlers looked helpless in front of Peshawar Zalmi batsmen.

In 12th over, Karachi Kings got first success to dismiss David Malan at 36 runs.

At that time Peshawar Zalmi’s score was 97 runs. The next batsman Marlon Samuels joined Kamran Akmal to raise team’s score. Both of them continued to play well.

They dominated Karachi Kings bowlers throughout their innings. Kamran Akmal continued to smash sixes and fours and made first century of PSL 2017. 

In 20th overs when Peshawar Zalmi’s total score was 174 runs, Kamran Akmal was run out.

But the damage was already done for Karachi Kings. The next batsman Shahid Afridi was caught on first ball. Peshawar Zalmi ended their innings at 181 runs that includes a wonderful century by Kamran Akmal in a very important match.

Peshawar Zalmi’s bowlers also performed exceptionally. They restricted Karachi Kings to score any good runs in the powerplay. In the 2nd over Babar Azam was departed after scoring 1 run. Wahab Riaz taken his catch on the ball by Chris Jordan.

Captain Kumar Sangakkara joined Chris Gayle to chase the target but in the 5th over Kumar Sangakkara was dismissed by Wahab Riaz. Wahab Riaz also dismissed Shoaib Malik on the next ball. Karachi Kings came under pressure with no runs on board and sudden falling of two wickets.

In the 9th over Ravi Bopara departed after scoring 6 runs. Muhammad Hafeez dismissed bopara. Kieron Pollard was next batsmen who joined Chris Gayle.

They both started hitting sixes. Chris Gayle hit four sixes and two 4s before getting bowled out by Wahab Riaz. This was turning point of the game

Kieron Pollard later scored some quick runs by smashing 4 boundaries and 3 sixes.

He given some hope for Karachi Kings Fans. Their hopes shattered when Pollard was out on 47 in 18th over. At this point Karachi Kings needed 40 runs in 13 balls.

Next batsmen couldn’t smash big hits and the whole team could make 157 runs in 20 overs. Wahab Riaz’s excellent bowling and Kamran Akmal’s wonderful knock of 104 runs helped Peshawar Zalmi to reach in the final of PSL 2017.

The final of PSL 2017 will be played between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi on 5th March 2017 in Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
