Nawaz, Luke Wright help Quetta Gladiators win PSL Opening match
In the opening match of HBL Pakistan Super League, Quetta Gladiators beaten Islamabad United in a low scoring match. 21 years old Quetta Gladiators bowler Muhammad Nawaz and batsman Luke Wright starred in the opening match with their best performances with ball and bat respectively. Earlier he said in an interview that he hope Quetta Gladiators will win the PSL Tournament. He said he is performing good in T20’s in recent years and is excited to play in Pakistan Super League.
Islamabad United’s start was not so good. Thanks to Quetta Gladiator’s good bowling strategy to use spin at right, Islamabad United’s wicket kept falling at regular intervals. The resistance to Gladiators were seen from Islamabad United’s Captain Misbah ul Haq and No. 8 batsman Andre Russel who hitted some quick boundaries to reach Islamabad United to a reasonable total of 128 runs.
Misbah ul Haq made 41 runs on 28 balls with 4 fours and one six. Andre Russel smashed 35 runs on just 20 balls with 4 fours and 2 long sixes. Here are highlights from Andre Russel’s batting.
Quetta Gladiators started off their innings exceptionally well. Chasing a total of 128 runs Luke Wrights played a blistring innings and smashes 86 runs off just 53 balls with 11 fours and 4 sixes. Ahmad Shahzad and Kevin Pietresen could not stay on crease for long. Muhammad Nawaz who took four wickets giving away 13 runs only smashed 22 runs to lead Quetta Gladiators to victory.
