Ahmad Shahzad Shines as Quetta Gladiators beat Karachi Kings by 8 wickets
Quetta Gladiators were able to beat the Karachi Kings comprehensively to bag their second win in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Karachi were considered to be the favourites of the tournament prior to this match but it was not to be as the Quetta Gladiators made their mark.
The fourth T20 match of the tournament was played on Saturday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in a somewhat empty stadium.
Karachi Kings, were sent in to bat first and just like the rest of the tournament, the team batting first struggled to get going. The pitch favoured the spinners and the batsmen seemed helpless against the turn provided to the bowlers by the pitch. Nauman Anwar fell in the first over to Anwar Ali while trying to go for a big one. The spinners were very much on the mark from the start go and very difficult to play against, Zulfiqar Babar just gave away a single in his first two overs.
Karachi Kings looked to falter at one stage but a good partnership between Shoaib Malik and Ravi Bopara kept them in the match, Bopara scoring 40 of just 29 balls. Karachi posted a total score of 147 for the loss of 7 wickets which was the highest total of the PSL T20 tournament, 2016.

Kevin Pietersen entered the game when the Quetta Gladiators were already in the driving seat. The Karachi spinners were punished all over the park by the Quetta batsmen. Pietersen finished the match in style for the Gladiators with a six over the bowler’s head.
